Tips and Tricks with the DJI Mini 3

The new DJI Mini 3 Pro was released almost a year ago and many people could not wait to get their hands on it. As the DJI Mini 3 Pro is still a highly popular drone, today we will provide a few tips and tricks in order for you to maximise the potential of such an amazing drone!

Connect the Controller to the Wi-Fi

The DJI Mini 3 Pro has a smart controller with an inbuilt screen which does cost extra. However, this means that you can have access to the smartphone during the DJI Mini 3 Pro’s flight time and when the controller is connected to the Wi-Fi, it allows the Maps to function and to navigate when flying.

Obstacle Bypass Mode

Off, Brake and Bypass. These are the 3 modes of the DJI Mini 3 Pro. Off means that there is no obstacle bypass mode, Brake will stop when it senses an obstacle and bypass will swerve or “bypass” the obstacle and keep flying. This mode can be found under the DJI Mini 3 Pro’s safety settings.

Return Home Feature

Return to Home or RTH is an excellent feature of the DJI Mini 3 Pro. This features allow the drone to return back to the home point in the instance of an emergency or disconnection. The DJI Mini 3 Pro’s RTH feature operates differently to other drones, so experiment with it by having it fly a short distance an initiate the feature next to the left stick with an H and two orange strikes. The DJI Mini 3 Pro will commence the RTH feature, and you can gain confidence in its ability to return.

Vertical Gimbal Rotation

Sky transitions are some of the most picturesque and beautiful scenic shots you can produce with the DJI Mini 3 Pro. This is possible by the gimbal that can move vertical within 180 degrees. Fly towards the target with the gimbal facing forward then move it up towards the sky using the gimbal controller. Whilst the DJI Mini 3 Pro’s gimbal can move vertically, it is a bit of a shame it cannot move horizontally, however the images produced from the vertical gimbal rotation are spectacular if done well.

Record at 30FPS

Recording at 30FPS with the DJI Mini 3 Pro is the best option to create better footage, especially if the drone is moving fast. We advise you to use 4K/60FPS for slow-motion for the DJI Mini 3 Pro.
