Although it can read and write music, movies, and photos, the reading speed of the disk drive is far slower than the other models.

The two storage drives in the WD Black books cannot write any document with binary/hex value coding due to their reliance on Motorola’s SATA interface, which is a relatively new technology at the time of this writing. However, this feature does not affect the users who are still using the older PC models with SATA drives. It is expected that the next generation of these portable drives from WD will have this capability, though.
